Every Thorn has it's Rose (prt2)

<><><> What she told us was completely true. the next day we went for our operations. Then things really began to heat up. We trained for 6 more months as a complete team. then we began our missions. I proved more than once that I was the Dark Horse's most valuable asset. my last mission with them was about one week ago. It was an average mission for us. We were to sneak into a museum and steal some gems worth over $300,000. Not a bad job from the sounds of it. We got there without any trouble at all. We had been given an old beat up looking van for all of our operations. It was this big gray boat of a vehicle on the outside; but on the inside Iuni had turned it into a mini lab. This thing would make the FBI jealous. She had all types of surveillance, forensics, and hacking equipment in that thing and she even had enough room for all of us to still sit and hold our latest stash. Anyway, I'm getting off subject, so we made it in around 10pm that night. It didn't take long to get in and get the goods. We only had to take out 5 rent-a-cops to get there too. Iuni, as per usual, waited in the van while Red and I did the dirty work. We split up after we got the goods. The usual plan was that Red would take the goods and escape on a motorcycle while I dropped my calling card, a blue rose, and some times an appearance for the cops to see. I was well armed for any run-in. I had one visible gun and four hidden ones, I also had a sword, smoke grenades, flash bangs, and needles. Thanks to some Dark Horse techs I had blue roses with needles in the bottom of the stem and also ones that when they impacted something solid they would release smoke like a smoke grenade. And of course there were the standard roses. The fact that I was a walking arsenal just fed into my ego. So, anyway, I did a little rafter jumping looking for a good spot to drop an appearance, do a little trash talking, and make a get away. Then I spotted them. There were two armed cops sitting just near a rear exit. I hopped to a rafter a little way away from them. "Eye module, magnify x4," I whispered. Immediately the vision in my left eye zoomed in. "Ear module, volume increase to level 7" I could hear them clearly now. They were both female. One was tall and blonde. She had a police Sergeant's uniform. The other was an Asian girl w/ long black hair. She was maybe around 15. Her uniform was that of a Police officer in training. From what I understand it is very common for the trainees and their partners to be given jobs like guard duty. "This is boring. What's with these fluff assignment," the younger one asked. "These are important jobs, Jen. There are currently some pretty expensive items on display here," the officer replied, "plus," she said leaning in, "I hear that these gems are a target for that Bluerose crook." Jen giggled and then said, "yeah sure. Hey get a load of these." She pulled an ammo clip out of her belt and popped a pink bullet out of it. That's right pink! "What the hell is that?" "It's a bullet." "I realize. Why is it pink." "It's the latest thing from R&D. It's covered w/ a semi frictionless polymer that increases the speed of the bullet." She replaced the bullet into the clip. "How'd you get a hold of these," the officer asked skeptically. "I flirted with the guy who made them," she grinned, "here have a clip." She tossed the officer a clip of the new bullet. Then I heard Iuni's voice in my ear. "Blue, you better hurry up." I acknowledged her and moved closer just as the alarm started to blare. "What?! That's the alarm," the officer said standing up. "Well, Well, Well, what have we here? A couple of chicks in pigs clothes?" Jen asked, "Are you the Bluerose?" "Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner. Hehe and here's your prize," I said drawing my gun. The two officers reacted with great speed both drawing their guns and firing . I also drew my sword and put the broad side of it in front of me. It was a practiced maneuver. I used the ultra hard steel that the weapon was made of to block bullets. The fire fight continued for 2 minutes with neither side getting anywhere. They had both taken cover behind large creates of some exhibition or some such thing. Then the one named Jen stepped out from behind her cover and locked a new clip in. "Let's see what these babies can do." she fired one of the pink bullets and it hit near the base of the sword and burrowed in. It was the first time anyone had ever even scratched the sword let alone buried a bullet in it. "You miserable wench! How dare you! Now you will die." she turned to run and I fired a bullet that hit her in the back of the ankle dropping her to the ground. She had spun around so now she was looking straight into my eyes. "Now it happens, Bitch." I fired one bullet aimed straight between her eyes. Her partner jumped in front of it and the projectile struck her in the abdomen. Her eyes rolled back into her head and she fell. "Blue, evac NOW!" Iuni said in my ear. "Roger," I whispered. Then to the cops, "Consider yourself lucky. I'm going to let you live. That and you partner's wound is non-mortal if it's treated in time. Now I must be leaving. And to you, the only one to ever scare my beautiful steel, I leave this." I tossed one of the smoke roses and it made contact near the officer. While they were covered in smoke I made my getaway. I went back to the van and sat in the driver's seat, Iuni moving into the passenger's seat. We wait 5 min. for the ambulances and police cars to arrive. This was another custom. By the time we left Red would always be back at the hideout having her "quiet time" while Iuni and I grabbed a drink at a local bar where they knew us under aliases. I saw the officer being loaded into one of the ambulances and Jen sitting on the bumper of another with a blanket wrapped around her thin body. I sighed, "You know, Iuni, there are times when I feel sorry for people like her. The people who we've killed are dead. But people like her must live with the mental scares of these incidents for the rest of their lives." "Don't tell me you're going soft on me." "Nah, come-on let's get a drink." <><><>
